Elisabeth (Lissi) BLOEHS

Elisabeth (Lissi) Bloehs (nee Dettling), of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 72 years.

Elisabeth was born in Filipowa, Yugoslavia on Nov. 15, 1930. She immigrated to Canada as a young woman. She met her husband, Kurt, in Calgary at a mutual friend’s wedding; she was a bridesmaid, he was the best man. They were married a year later. Elisabeth was a fine woman, petite, good looking, with a great deal of energy and a terrific sense of humour. She loved to dance, enjoyed travelling and the finer things in life.

She made many friends during her travels, with New Zealand being her favourite place to visit.

Elisabeth also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and, being a real homemaker, knitting and handcraft work. Over the years, Elisabeth worked for various companies including the Calgary Petroleum Club, Canterra, and Deer Valley Mall. She was a great fan, volunteer and supporter of the Calgary Stampede.

Elisabeth is survived by her much loved sister and brother-in-law, Katie and Rob Bremner and their children Jeff and Heidi of Auckland, New Zealand; her mother Katharina Dettling of Chilliwack; her grandson, Adam Chessor of Calgary; brothers, Sebastian (Christine), Adam and Mark (Elaine); sister, Annie Wilgan; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends; Maureen and Rey Erickson, and their children Breanne and Shae.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kurt; son, Dexter; brother, Peter; and father Sebastian.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Unit 73, Rockyview General Hospital, and the staff of Tom Baker for their kindness and care of Elisabeth.
