Edythe Peel passed away on November 17th, 2009 at Cascade Hospice at age 82 years. She was born on March 3rd 1927 in St. Albert, Alberta.

Edye is survived by her devoted friend and companion Pennie Fouts, sister Doris (Harlen) Cook, brother Frank (Lois) Belrose, granddaughter Shawn Leanne O’Brien, nephew Ken (Donna) Belrose and many other nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her mother Louise Breland and father Adolf Callihoo, husband George Dempster, daughter Gwendolynne Patricia, grandson Christopher Harmes, sister Scotty and brother Kenneth.

Edye hopped a freight from Edmonton to Vancouver in 1953. She worked in a plywood mill and various other jobs before joining Pacific Press as a supervisor in Ad Control. Since her retirement in 1991, Edye spent many enjoyable years at her home in Cultus Lake. Edye’s family would like to express their very deep appreciation to the staff and volunteers of the Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack for their loving attention and care of Edye in the last two months of her life.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 20th 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel at Henderson’s Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
