‘Melvin’

Edwin ‘Melvin’ Canfield, born September 18, 1928 in New Westminster, BC, passed away March 28, 2009 at Chilliwack.

Predeceased by his wife Adeal (2001) and two of his sons, Robert (1982) and Stephen (2004).

Mel joined the Canadian Forces and served first in the Korean War then, working his way up to the rank of Captain, in his beloved regiment the PPCLI.

Each of his five children were born at whichever Base he was serving at the time.

Following retirement from his military service in 1973, Mel turned to the prison service where he worked until he was forced to retire due to his MS.

Mel and his wife then turned their skills to relationship counselling.

Mel is survived by his sister Ellen of Surrey and his three remaining children: Edwin of Vancouver, Ellen (Mel) of Chilliwack and Murray (Angelica) of Santiago, Chile as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
