Edith McElroy passed away at Queen’s Park Hospice in New Westminster on
February 23, 2006 at age 92. Edith was born in Mattawa, Ontario on
December 13,1913 and came to British Columbia in 1975. She settled in Chilliwack until she moved to New Westminster three years ago. Edith worked several years in Home Care Services and attended the local T.O.P.S. meetings regularly. She was great at cards, knitting and crosswords and got much enjoyment growing and sharing her houseplants. Edith was an inspiration to all of us with her playful spirit, generous nature, positive outlook and love of life.
She is survived by her brother, Russell Morrison, of Chilliwack, daughter, Ann Lodge ( Jim) of Port Moody, son John McElroy (Tannis) of Edmonton, grandchildren Jana (Trevor), Kim (Dean), Karen, Jennifer, Carson and Cali and great- grandson Ryder.
The Family would like to thank the Home Support, Royal Columbian Hemodialysis Unit and Queen’s Park Hospice in New Westminster for their outstanding support and care.
Edith will be remembered as a strong, independent wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great grandmother and Friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 18, 2006 in Chilliwack at Henderson Funeral Chapel at 3pm with Reverend Ireland officiating. Her favourite time of year was autumn with the beautiful coloured leaves so interment of the urn will be late September in Mattawa Ontario.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Canadian Diabetes Association or Royal Columbian Hemodialysis unit or Queen’s park Hospice.
