It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of Douglas James Nicol.
Doug will be sadly missed by dear friend Helan Mueller; his children, Tad Nicol, Susan Goldie, Janice Nicol, and their mother Jan Nicol; his seven grandchildren, Christie, Brandon, Kareline, Lauren, Cameron, Zoe, and Aidan. He also leaves behind Nancy DenBoesterd.
He will be remembered warmly by his many friends and colleagues at University College of the Fraser Valley where he was head of the Geography Department. He was a member of the Chilliwack Museum and Archives’ History Circle, an event he hosted for 15 years. He was also an honourary life member of the Museum and Historical Society, past board member, and chair of the Cemetery Committee.
Doug began dragon boating in the spring this year and had an enormous enthusiasm for the sport. The club will miss seeing him steering to the finish line next year.
A memorial service will be held at Chilliwack United Church, November 26, 2003 at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chilliwack Museum in Doug’s memory would be appreciated.
