Passed away peacefully on October 22, 2010 at Burloak Long Term Care Centre in Burlington, Ontario. Born in Chilliwack, B.C. in 1913.
Doris was predeceased by her three sisters and her husband Peter (former Director of the Vancouver Public Library.)
Survived by her brother Philip Thiemer and wife Arlene of Kamloops, B.C and daughters Judith Felix (Robert) of Columbia, South Carolina and Barbara Ann McAlpine of Oakville, ON. Also by five grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
An accomplished artist, Doris pursued an artistic career that lasted fifty years. Awarded an honourary life membership by the West Vancouver Sketch Club. She was a member of the IODE and Women’s Auxiliary to D Company of the Westminster Regiment during WW II. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
