Donald NEILL

Donald Neill late of Chilliwack and formerly of Manitoba and Ottawa passed away April 6, 2003 in Chilliwack at the age of 79. Don was born December 11, 1923 in England and had lived in this area for 22 years.

‘’Easy Rider at 79’’. Don worked as a federal surveyor for 36 years. He was a devoted father and grandfather, a veteran of the Second World War with the British Royal Navy, a marathoner, cyclist, Nordic skier and active member of the YMCA. He was a singer and musician, chess player, avid reader of history, enjoyed a cigar and a brandy and was active to the end. Don will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife Phyllis of 53 years; children, Avaleigh, Peter, Allison, and Michael (Kelly); and grandchildren, Aidan, Carmen, Samuel, and Emily; and extended family in Manitoba and Ottawa.

Don was predeceased by his mother Nellie Alice Boulton; stepfather George Henry Daye; father Henry Neill; and brother Harry Neill.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Chilliwack Family YMCA.

All are welcome to attend a reception held at the family home at 45789 Victoria Ave., April 13, 2003 from 1-5 p.m. Henderson’s Funeral Home, Chilliwack, in care of arrangements.
