Diane Hamel (Desnoyers)

June 24, 1955 - July 23, 2017

Surrounded by her loving husband and children, Diane passed away peacefully at the comfort of Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack on July 23, 2017. After courageously battling lymphoma cancer for 24 years and more recently 7 months, true to Diane’s spirit she stayed positive and fought right to the end without ever complaining. Diane was born on June 24, 1955 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She is survived by the love of her life, best friend and husband Paul; children, Ron (Tanya) and Colette (Pat); grandsons, Jake and Brett; sisters, Linda (Leo), Paulette (Fred); brothers, Jerry (Mabel) and Larry (Gerri) as well as many other extended family members who loved her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Oliva and Solange Desnoyers and brother, Gilbert. She had an extraordinary smile and love for life and has always been a positive influence and inspiration to many. She worked as a lab assistant for 35 years with BC Bio/Life Labs and truly enjoyed being a “mémère” spending time her two grandsons. Upon being diagnosed with lymphoma at the age of 38, Diane was not only determined to beat it, but also made it her mission to live her best life and teach others to think positive and always take on life by the horns. Thank you to Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack for the amazing care and support provided to Diane and her family during the last week of her courageous battle. A celebration of life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday, July 28, 2017 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory can be made to the Chilliwack Hospice online at http://www.chilliwackhospice.org
