It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of David Homer McCall on January 22, 2009, at the age of 62, following a heart attack.

He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Barbara and beloved daughters Amy and Bria. He is also survived by his mother Myrtle McCall, sisters Ann (Norman) Kibblewhite, Willa (Richard) Hill, sister-in-law Linda (Ken) Wall, and brother-in-law Andy Wilson and their families, and prior-marriage children Raymond Miller and Mindy McCartney and their families. He was predeceased by his father William Thomas McCall. David also leaves behind many dear friends and colleagues who share in our loss.

David had many fond memories of growing up on Gabriola Island, roaming the beaches and deer trails to his heart’s content. In the last 30 years of his life he lived in Chilliwack with his family and enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking and gardening. David also took pleasure in the fellowship of Rotary over the last 25 years, mainly with the Chilliwack/Fraser Club. David lived every day to the fullest and took pride in all he did, always guided by his golden rule “work first, play second”.

In October 1973 he began a long and satisfying career with Prospera (then Fraser Valley) Credit Union, starting in the Whalley branch as a loans officer. He worked in many branches over the last 35 years, his last position being the Manager of the Agassiz branch. He began each day with enthusiasm and always loved to share his knowledge with his co-workers.

We would like to extend our deepest thanks to the Paramedics, RCMP, all the wonderful staff at CGH and to Drs. Son, Bartel and Dueck for their compassionate care of David.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Best Western Rainbow Country Inn, 43971 Industrial Way (just off the Lickman overpass), Chilliwack, BC. Reception to follow.

McLean’s Funeral Services Ltd. in care of arrangements.

Please consider a donation to your favourite charity in David’s name in lieu of flowers.
