Cpt. Donald “Lloyd” SIAS

Captain Donald “Lloyd” Sias, late of Chilliwack, formerly of Alert Bay, B.C. until 1991, passed away May 1, 2005 in Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 79 years. He was born April 16, 1926 in Vanderhoof, British Columbia and had lived in this area for 14 years.

He was an ocean navigator for 53 years, working most of the time on Ferries and Tugboats. He loved fishing, traveling, and his many cats that he had through the years. He was chairman of the BC Retired Employees Association, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Coast Guard Auxiliary. He loved the outdoors and all animals and was a man of many hobbies and had many interests. He loved being with people and had many tales to tell.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Henderson’s Funeral Home Chapel, Chilliwack, with Reverend Michael Hare officiating.

Lloyd is survived by Erma, his loving wife of 31 years; his daughter Judy Close, 3 step-sons Lance (Sharon), Allan (Lynne) and Calvin (Donna) Zurowski; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers Frank (Josie), Dick (Donna), Barry, and sister Heather MacKenzie; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one daughter, Donna Ross; one sister, Jessie Marvin and one brother, David.

Should family and friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Carman United Church.
