To our deep sorrow, the Lord in His unfathomable ways, has taken from our midst a dearly beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Cornelis Christiaan Klop, late of Agassiz, B.C., suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, May 18, 2009, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital at the age of 68 years. He was born on April 10, 1941, in Kesteren, the Netherlands.

He immigrated to Canada with his mother and two older brothers in 1952.

Cornie is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marie Klop (nee Stoutjesdyk); children: Bill Klop, Jim and Erika Klop (van Herk), Ben and Elaine Klop (van Straalen), Marvin and Rita Klop (Kerkhoff), Dirk and Deana Boer, Martin and Jackie Krol, Cornie Klop, and David and Vanessa Klop (East); and 26 grandchildren, all of Agassiz, B.C. with the exception of Ben and Elaine and family who reside in Coaldale, Alberta. He is also survived by his older brother Marius Klop of Laidlaw, B.C., several brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his parents, Wilhelmus and Berndina Klop; infant sister, Anna Klop; brother, Henry Klop; and nieces: Joanne Stoutjesdyk and Antonetta van de Pol.

The funeral service was held on Friday, May 22, 2009 at the Reformed Congregation in North America, Chilliwack, B.C. and interment followed at Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain. Pallbearers were his sons; Bill, Jim, Ben, Marvin, Cornie and David. Honorary Pallbearers were sons-in-law Dirk Boer and Martin Krol.

Cornie was a respected and involved citizen in Agassiz, B.C. where he resided and operated a family dairy farm since 1972. He has been a member of several dairy related organizations including the B.C. Milk Board.

He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
