Christiaan Johannes Vandyk went home to be with his Lord, Monday Mar. 29, 2004 at Heritage Village at the age of 80 years. He was born on November 4, 1923 in Rijnsburg, the Netherlands.
Chris is survived by Maria, his wife of 43 years; his daughter, Sophia (Ken) White; his son, Chris (Michelle); seven grandchildren and two brothers, Nico and Gert in the Netherlands.
Chris moved to Canada in 1949. He met and married Maria in 1960. They lived in Ontario and the Netherlands before retiring in Chilliwack in 1988.
Chris was an avid gardener and fisherman, a hobby he shared with his wife. His family and friends enjoyed his sense of humour and practical jokes right until the end. He was a man of few words who lived out his faith in Jesus in a quiet and practical way.
Chris lived the last few years of his life in Parkholm and Heritage Village. We would like to thank the staff of both facilities for their loving care especially during his last days.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Apr. 3 at 1:30 pm at First Christian Reformed Church, 9800 McNaught Rd, Chilliwack, BC. Pastor Geleynse officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
