Christa was born June 17, 1933 in Schmalkalden, East Germany to Erich and Kaeghe Rassbach. She was received into the family God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism shortly after birth and was confirmed in East Germany in 1947.
On June 15, 1968 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Vancouver she joined her hands and heart in marriage to Thor Holm. Their son Erik George was born in November 1969.
Christa joined the Lord’s family at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chilliwack on February 17, 1985. Christa was a loved and valued member of the congregation. Many were blessed with her counted crossstitch works of art and she dedicated many hours to helping make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. Indeed, her love has spread around the world as many in refugee camps have appreciated her work on these quilts and in preparing emergency kits for those in need.
Christa was called home by her Lord on June 12, 2008. All who loved her wait in anticipation of a joyful reunion in heaven. She is survived by her husband Thor; son Erik (Michelle); grandchildren Liam, Erik Thor and Kaitlynn Christa; cousin Susan and her children Michelle and Curstin.
A service of celebration for the life of Christa Holm will be held Wednesday, June 18 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
