Charles Ernest Davis, late of Sardis, passed away April 19, 2004 in Chilliwack General Hospital, succumbing to cancer at age 88.
Charlie was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on June 22, 1915; but was raised on a farm in Paddockwood, Sask.During the years of WW II, he left the farm and worked as a welder on ships in Oregon and then Vancouver, ending up welding for Emil Anderson Construction in Hope, B.C. In 1955 Charlie married Louvina Griffin and in 1961 moved his family to Sardis to farm, where he remained the rest of his life.
Those who knew Charlie knew him as an honourable man with a life-long love of gardening and animals.
He will be sorely missed by his son, Robert; granddaughters Catherine, Michelle and Margaret; brother-in-law, Jim (Dorothy) Griffin and other family and friends.
A viewing will be held between 1—2 p.m and a Memorial Tea will start at 2 p.m., both on Saturday, Apr. 24th at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave., Chilliwack. Cremation will follow.
