Carey Gordon LOCKWOOD

August 17, 2010

Died in Chilliwack General Hospital the evening of August 17, 2010. Born June 2, 1934 to Doris and Ray Lockwood of Winnipeg.

In 1957 Carey graduated with a BSc in Pharmacy from the University of Manitoba. In 1956 he enrolled in the RCAMC (CFMS) in the ROTP program. Postings, during his 32 years of service, took him to London (ON), Toronto, Borden, Shilo, Egypt (Gaza), Ottawa, Soest and Iserlohn (Northern Germany), Petawawa (ON), Debert (NS) and Lahr, Germany.

Chilliwack was his final posting and home of retirement.

Married to his loving wife Helen for over 53 years has brought him great joy and three beautiful children; Sharon (Donald) Robertson in Truro, NS, Carey (Jan) in Port Alberni, and Brian who tragically passed away in 1971. He is also the proud grandfather of Jill and Robbie Robertson of Halifax.

Since retiring Carey had been active in the Garden Club, Chilliwack Probus, lawn bowling, bridge and playing card and board games with his grandchildren.

In his younger years he enjoyed golf, sailing, canoeing, skiing, curling, hiking and swimming.

During his battle with leukemia Carey appreciated the compassionate care he received in Ambulatory Care (IV therapy) over the past many months. They were always there for him and it was like a second home to him. He and his family also wish to thank the nurses in ICU who gave him kindness and care during his final days.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Monday, August 23, 2010 at his home between 1 pm and 4 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Chilliwack General Hospital or a charity of your choice.
