Bruce walker

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of husband and father, Bruce Walker, on October 15, 2006 at Chilliwack Hospital due to heart and kidney failure, at age 83 years. Married for 58 years, he leaves to mourn his loving wife, Theresa; son Dennis (Grace), Chilliwack, son Mike, Abbotsford; grandchildren Christine and Carrie of Kamloops, Corrie (Angie) of Prince George; brothers Robert (May) of Mt Currie and Lindsay (Gay) of Mission.

Born August 16, 1923 in Edmonton, raised in Vancouver and Mission, where he and the family lived most of his life.

He was employed in the lumber industry for 43 years, he worked at Smith and Kealey, Parkhurst; Northern Studs, Lac La Hache and Cascade Fir, Mt. Currie where he worked with his brothers. In 1945, he was stationed at Wainwright, Alberta as guard in the 26th Guard Co. Bruce was a planerman and resawyer at McMahon Lumber Co, Mission until he retired. He and Theresa later moved to 70 Mile and owned and operated the Canyon Ranch. Due to ill health, they moved to Greendale.

Bruce was predeceased by his daughter, Joan Kathleen Walker and son, Roy James; parents Raymond and Lucy Walker, sisters Irene Grace Mitzell and Dorothy Hook; brothers, Victor, Ted, Bert and George.

The family wishes to thank the nurses in Emergency and 2nd and 3rd floor for their help and caring support of Bruce. Heart felt thanks to Dr. Lori Laughland and Dr. Gordon Grills.

Graveside service to be held on Friday, October 20, 2006 at 2:00pm at Hatzic Cemetery, Mission.
