Beth Irene BRAIDWOOD (Breckenridge)

October 16, 2003

Beth Irene Braidwood passed away on Thursday, October 16 2003 in Sardis, B.C. at the age of 77 years. She was born on April 29, 1926 in Inglis, Manitoba.

Beth is survived by her husband of 53 years, Peter; three daughters, Sheila (Brian) Clarke of Calgary, Susan Braidwood (John Eaton) of Toronto, and Mary Beth Grenier of Sardis; two sons, John (Colleen) and Tom (Kathy); nine grandchildren, Heather, Meghan, Christopher, Kathleen, Mark-Andre, Jennifer, Shawn, Ashley, Amanda and Riley; and one great grandchild, Beth. Beth is also fondly remembered by her dear friends, Opal McFarlane and Marvel Sadler, as well as her cousins, extended family and many friends.

Beth was an only child and was raised on the small town of Inglis, Manitoba. After high school, she moved to Winnipeg to study nursing, graduating as an RN from St. Boniface Hospital, in 1948.

She and Peter met when Beth was 15 years old and Peter had just arrived in Canada from Scotland. They were married in 1950 and lived in Winnipeg, Calgary and Chilliwack, as Peter was in the military. During the years spent in Winnipeg and Calgary, they made many life long friends whom they enjoyed visiting on vacation.

Beth’s life centered around her family and her home. She was a talented seamstress and knitter. She grew beautiful African Violets that always seemed to be in bloom. She loved going camping with family and we have many wonderful memories of those fun times. Mom could always be counted on to support her family in every way and she will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage Village and Parkholm for their tender care of Beth during the past six years, and to also thank Connie and Kay, for taking their time to visit Mom, even though she could not always acknowledge their presence.

In lieu of flowers, should family and friends so desire, donations in Beth’s memory may be made to the Parkinson Society of British Columbia, 600-890 West Pender Street Vancouver, B.C.
