Bernice Edna ARMSTRONG

August 1, 2006

Aug. 4, 1926 - Aug. 1, 2006

Mom passed away after a long battle with liver cancer.

She was born in Chilliwack to Esther and Grose Gorham.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, her husband Bob and her sisters Elizabeth (Kingswood) and Ethel (Cunningham).

She is survived by her sister Laura (Merson), brother Weldon Gorham (Jackie), her children Cindy (Robin) Jeffery, Robbie (Honey) Armstrong, her grandchildren Rayna (Chris) DeHoog, Avery (Rita) Sturdivan, Hayla Jeffery, Autumn (Mark) Long, Aaron Tolmie, her great grandchildren Stuart and Hannah DeHoog and Destiny and Emma Long.

Mom was a cute 5’2” brown-eyed brunette who was the apple of our Dad’s eye. They lived in the Fraser Valley all their lives. When they were dating Dad’s nickname for her was “Shorty” or “Shortstuff”. After they were married she became “Bea” and everyone knew her as Bea or Auntie Bea. Mom was kind, caring and generous, always willing to help and encourage the many people who came in contact with her.

The main organizations she belonged to was the Women’s Institute Promontory Heights and in most recent years the United Empire Loyalists. She worked for Zellers for many years as well.

After Dad passed away in 2002 mom moved into a condo at Morningside on Knight Road. There she resided until the effects of liver cancer sent her to the hospital for the last time.

In March 2006 she then moved to Bradley Center Residential Care Unit where she was able to live her last days in comfort and peace under the watchful eye of the staff there.

Our wonderful Mom will be missed by many who knew her as Shorty, Bea, Auntie Bea, Mom, Grandma. We will never forget her bright and happy smile and her fire and energy.

There will be a Service of Remembrance in the Chapel of Hendersons Funeral Home on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at 3:00 p.m.

If family and friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

See you on the other side, lots of love from your family and friends.
