Benedict FOUGERE

Fougere, Benedict, aged 72, passed away suddenly Friday, November 10, 2006 in Chilliwack, B.C. Born in Havre Boucher, Nova Scotia on March 21, 1934.

He was a son of Francis and Laura (O’Neil) Fougere.

He was predeceased by nine of his 14 siblings. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bernice Janet (McNeil); sons; Wayne, Donald, and James in B.C. Greg in Ontario and daughter Debra in Quebec. Grandchildren; Benedict, Jocelyn, Sarah, Matthew, Michelle, Adam, Brent, Katie, Joleen, Bryce and Luba. As a young man, he served in the Korean War as a paratrooper with the PPCLI. Ben worked as a meat-cutter for Canada Safeway in B.C. and Winnipeg. He owned several buisinesses, including and most important to him, Fougere’s Restaurant in the Caribou and Pictou, Nova Scotia.

He retired in 1998, but had been partially retired since 1985

He enjoyed his past 20 winters in Florida and moved to B.C. two years ago to be close to three of his children and many of his grandchildren.

He enjoyed golfing and was an avid hockey and Canadian football fan. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all his life and many hunting and fishing trips with his children and grandchildren since moving to B.C.

A funeral Mass will be held in St.Mary’s Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack, B.C. Saturday, November 18th at 11 A.M. followed by a reception in the family home.
