Barbara Elizabeth Hohmann passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24th, in her 91st year at Chalmer’s Lodge in Vancouver.
Barbara was born in Marysburg, Saskatchewan, where she sub–sequently met and married Gregor; together they had eight children. In 1947 the family relocated to Chilliwack, B.C., where Barbara lived for the largest part of her life – 55years. While still raising her family Barbara also worked for many years at Valleyhaven Rest Home in Chilliwack. Following her retirement there at 65, she spent another 10 years working as a volunteer at the St Vincent de Paul Society, in aid of the poor. In 2003 she moved to Vancouver.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband and two sons, Ed and baby Anthony. She is survived by two sisters, one brother, one daughter, Josephine, five sons, Ferd, Benno, George, Joe, and Ron, and many beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held at St Augustine’s Church, 2028 West 7th Avenue, Vancouver, on Saturday, April 1st at 1:00PM.
