With family by his side, Austin passed away peacefully on March 17, 2010 at Chilliwack General Hospital. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, and remembered for the countless number of lives he has touched.

He was predeceased by his parents Michael & Loretto, his brothers Leo, Ronwell, Keith, and sister Majella.

He is survived by Norma, his wife of 56 years, six children, Kim (Steve), Michael (Jennifer), Mary (Pat), Keith (Marjorie), Russell (Cathy), Danny (Linda); twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two sisters Sheila Dixon and Doreen Caines. Sisters-in-law Dorothy Keating and Peggy Keating.

Austin’s dedication to his work at C.G.H. and M.S.A. Hospitals, as well as decades spent as a drug and alcoholism counselor will be his legacy and remembered by everyone he met and considered a true friend.

His Military service in the Korean War was always something he was extremely proud to be a part of and was the foundation of how he would live the rest of his life.

A special thanks to all the members of The Knights of Columbus, Canadian Legion, Korean Veterans Association and his AA family for all their help and support over the years. Many thanks to Valley­haven Care Home staff for their care.

Service to be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, Mar. 23 at St. Mary’s Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack, B.C. Prayers will be held at 7:00 pm.
