Aron A. Riediger passed away peacefully into the presence of his Heavenly Father in the early hours of July 20, 2010.

He was born on March 16, 1924 in Kherson, Russia. The family immigrated to Canada when he was 3 months old. They settled in Blumenhof, Saskatchewan. It was here during Daily Vacation Bible School that he accepted the Lord as his personal Savior. The family moved to Chilliwack in September of 1945 and settled on a farm in Rosedale. Here he was baptized and joined the East Chilliwack M.B. Church. Aron was known as a man with strong biblical convictions and a strong faith in God.

He started working for Cheam Marl Products soon after moving to B.C. His first job was clearing land and he soon got the opportunity to work the drag-line machine which he enjoyed operating for 40 years. In February 1977, while still working for Cheam Marl, he was able to purchase his first dump truck and put it to work in the lime pit. God blessed him by allowing this new business venture to grow into a trucking company. Aron officially retired from the trucking business in April 1997, when he sold the business to 2 of his sons who still operate it to this day.

He married Helen Goosen, whom he had known his whole life, on June 29, 1952. Their union was blessed with 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

During his retirement years he enjoyed many hours of carpet bowling with various groups in town. He also spent many, many hours riding his stationary bike.

Aron will be lovingly remembered by Helen, his wife of 58 years; children, Don (Ruth), Ken (Heather), Janet, Dave (Ivy); grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer), Craig, Michael, Chelsea, Matthew (Nicole), Jonathan, Christopher, Jelisa, & Derek; and 1 great-grandson, Grayson. Also remembered by sisters, Justina, Tiena, Elizabeth (Henry Esau), and sister-in-law, Irene Riediger. Predeceased by 1 brother, Peter, and 2 sisters, Helen & Mary.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2010 between 7:00 and 8:30 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack.

Graveside service will be at Chilliwack Cemeteries on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 9:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life Service, beginning at 11:00 am at the Central Community Church, 46100 Chilliwack Central Rd., Chilliwack.
