Archibald McDONALD-FRANCIS

September 16, 2008

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Frank on September 16, 2008 at the age of 79 at Chilliwack General Hospital.

Frank was born on April 13, 1929 in Edmonton, Alberta.

He was predeceased by his father, Hugh Peter; his mother, Mary Ann; his brothers: Joseph and Howard; and his sister, Theresa.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his son, Robert (Cathy); grandchildren: Rhian and Duncan; and his daughter, Linda; as well as his sister Jean; brothers: Russell, Bernard, Donald and Douglas; along with numerous nephews and nieces, especially including his niece, Judy Cameron.

Frank was descended from the Glengarry Highlanders and he displayed their courage, strong will, and good humour throughout his life. He was an excellent athlete; he served in the 2nd Battalion Canadian Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry Regiment (2 PPCLI) in Korea and this battalion was awarded the USA Presidential Unit Citation for extraordinary heroism; his occupation as a Master Mariner earned him respect and the nick-name, ‘Radar’; he was a volunteer fireman at the Rosedale Fire Department.

Frank will be deeply missed by those who knew him. At Frank’s request, there will be no service.

“Ferry the dead. Fois do t’anam. Peace to his soul.

“All of us are better when we’re loved.’”

(Alistair McLeod, No Great Mischief)
