Archibald John STOREY

Archibald John Storey, born on September 6, 1922, died on March 7, 2003.

Mr. Storey volunteered in the Second World War with the Canadian Navy as a Chief Engineer, serving on the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. In 1946 he joined his father as a partner with North Shore Ice and extended the scope of the business to include fuel oil sales, serving many North Vancouver families.

After retiring in 1982, he moved to Chilliwack where he worked for St. Mary’s Church and School. Arch was active for a number of years in the Boy Scout movement and supported Catholic education, working at St. Edmund’s Elementary, St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Notre Dame High School and Vancouver College. He supported the Chilliwack Provincial Liberal Association, and much time with the Meadowbrook Ratepayers’ Association.

Survived by his wife of 58 and a half years, Monica; children, Fr. Michael Storey, Susan, Stephanie, Geoffrey, Monica Joan (Keith Andrew), Peter, Catherine (Mattheiu Pilotte), Matthew (Penny), Pauline, Janet (Mark Gushalak), and Heather (Steve Zehr); grandchildren, James and Sean Anderson, Thomas Storey, Thomas Darcy Storey, Ellen, Christopher, Amanda and Elizabeth Andrew, Kyle Storey, Jeremy, Sarah and Rebecca Pilotte, Jordan, Kelsey and Taylor Storey, Nicholas Gushalak, Caleb and Elias Zehr; as well as nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all.

Prayers will be offered on Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003 at 8 p.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2003 at 11 a.m. Fr. Michael Storey, Celebrant. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chilliwack.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Haiti Mission Fund.
