Annie Burns Brackenridge (nee Johnston), passed away gently in her sleep on Tuesday, April 8, 2009.

Beloved wife of Andy Stetar; dear mother to Catherine “Cathy” (Wayne) McAleese, Nancy (Mike) Thomson-Burr, Sandra (Brent) Stetar and Douglas “Doug” (Kathryn) Stetar; sweet grandmother to Sarah (Todd) Boulanger, Jessica Thomson, Jennifer “Jenny” Sullivan and Kathryn “Katy” Burr; an adoring ‘Granny’ to her eight great-children: Hannah, John, Aidan, Olivia “Livy”, Jimmy, Isabella “Bella”, Max and Ava; loving sister to Agnes Schmuck (Frank), Jimmy (Wilda) Johnston and Hank Johnston; sister-in-law to Roberta, Wilda, Ethel, Margret, Gertie and Shirley and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Annie was born on May 9, 1932 in Balm, Alberta, the daughter of the late Andrew and Sarah Ann (nee McCusker) Johnston. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Andrew “Andy” (Ethel) Johnston, Thomas “Tommy” (Roberta) Johnston; and her beloved sister, Elsie Marcus.

Anne was an exceptionally generous and loving soul who loved nothing more than to spend time with her family and friends. She adored and was adored by her four beautiful granddaughters and was enormously proud of her eight great-grandchildren. She lived for them and her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time and playing with them. The ‘8 – Greats’ brought her immeasurable joy during the last years of her life.

Annie will always be remembered for endless patience, never-ending smile and ability to make all those around her feel welcome and at home.

“To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.”
