Anna Isabelle HAWES

The family of Isabelle Hawes is saddened to announce her passing on Nov. 19, 2005 at the Chilliwack General Hospital, age 85. She was born in Hazel Hill, Guysborough Co., N.S. August 24, 1920. The second of seven children to Charles and Mary MacDougall. In 1958 Isabelle and her husband, Hartley, and five of her children moved to La Prairie, P.Q. where her husband was employed on the St. Lawrence Seaway Project. In Jan. 1970 they moved to Vedder Crossing where her husband was employed at the former C.F.B. Chilliwack.

Isabelle enjoyed knitting and crocheting, playing bingo and most of all cooking. It didn’t matter who you were, when you came to visit there was always a meal set in front of you. She was a Charter member of the Royal Canadian Legion Vedder Golden Branch. Her last year was spent at the Waverly Senior’s Home.

Isabelle is survived by 2 sons: Wes (Kristine) Hawes of Cultus Lake, B.C.; Frank (Kelly) Hawes of Saskatoon, Sask.; daughters: Miriam (Hugh) Fulton of Port Hope, Ont.; Marlane (Earl) Horton of Sherwood Park, Alberta; Donna (Omer) Brideau of St. Phillippe, P.Q.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon MacDougall of Campbell River, B.C.

She was predeceased by brothers, Bill, Charles, Ian and sisters, Peg and Kay; her husband, William Hartley Hawes; 2 sons, Charles and Kevin and beloved grandson, Shawn.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Vedder Branch on Thursday, November 24, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at the family plot at St. Mary’s R.C. Cemetery.
