Alexander (Sandy) SOLOWAN

It is with great sadness to be announcing that Alexander (Sandy) Solowan passed away on October 1, 2005 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 73. Sandy is survived by his brothers, Nick (Olga) Solowan of Mississauga, Ont.; Jerry (Jane) Solowan of Chilliwack, B.C.; Karl (Arlene) of Edmonton, Alta., many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sandy was predeceased by his father, William Solowan; brother, Terry Solowan; mother, Lena Solowan and sister, Susan Pearson.

Sandy was born on Dec. 28, 1931 in Kahwin, Alberta and spent his childhood days on the family farms in Alberta. In later years he worked on the oil rigs in Alberta, paper mill in Powell River, B.C. and for the City of Vegreville in Alberta. He retired and moved to Chilliwack, B.C. Sandy enjoyed being with people, telling jokes and the love of his life was playing his mouth organ.

The family would like to thank the staff, the nurses and doctors of Chilliwack General Hospital for all the care they gave to Sandy.

A visitation will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home on Wed. Oct. 5th, 2005 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 6th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Yarrow Cemetery.

Should family and friends so desire donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
