ALEXANDER (ALEX) K. HOWIE

Alexander “Alex” K. Howie passed away peacefully on June 27, 2006 at the Waverly of Chilliwack at age 98 years He was born August 24, 1907 at Grand Mound, Washington State. Alex is survived by his sister Mary McVeigh of Mission; daughter, Marian (Ed) Hegarty of Gloucester, Mass.; his son Gordon (Doreen) Howie of Abbotsford; his grandchildren, Joanne (Luis) Querioz and Alisa (John) Sparks of California, Galen Howie of Japan and Scott (Lori) Howie of Abbotsford; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by Ruby, his wife of 60 years in 1999, brothers Jim, Wallie and Johnny and sister Jean Sampson.

Alex moved to Chilliwack in 1924 and started his successful electrical contracting business in the 1930’s. He loved to sing and participated in many choirs. He had many hobbies including gardening, boating and piloting small airplanes. He touched many peoples lives over the years.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 1:30 pm from Cooke’s Presbyterian Church, 45825 Wellington Ave; Rev. Diane Katerberg officiating.
