Albert Nelson HOPKINS

Albert Nelson Hopkins passed away peacefully at the Chilliwack General Hospital late on October 12, 2004. Before coming to British Columbia in 1975, Albert resided in Ontario.

He was the beloved husband of Lynn Hopkins, also formerly of Ontario; stepfather to Greg Moir of Peterborough, Ontario and Christine (Kevin) Kelly and grandsons, Dawson and Liam of Port Elgin, Ontario. Albert is also survived by his sisters, Reverend Mabel (Oliver) Henderson of Peterborough, Ontario and Reverend Elsie (Hugh) Gordon of Belleville, Ontario, and brother in law, Patrick Malloy of Victoria.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Marylene, 15, in 1965; brothers, Ramsay and John Hopkins of B.C and sisters, Helene Malloy of Victoria and Mae Fieldhouse of Orillia, Ontario.

Albert had a wide variety of employment during his lifetime. He worked at CGE in Peterborough, Nephton Mines and Lakefield Research near Lakefield, as a lab technician, as a lighthouse keeper near Picton and at General Foods in Cobourg. He managed six high rise Seniors Housing Apt. buildings at once in Burnaby. He owned his own small business selling and repairing TV’s and radios.

Since his retirement, Albert was best known for his excellent cooking and baking. He gave away thousands of his wonderful cookies. He also loved good music and searching for treasures at Saturday morning garage sales.

There will be no service by his request.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Lung Association of Canada.
