Agnes Maud (nee Clark) jones

Agnes was born in a home on Lickman Road in Atchletz, the second daughter of Ira and Maud Clark.

Her family home is a wonderful three-storey farmhouse on Lickman Road featured on a Chilliwack historical calendar.

She attended school at Atchelitz and graduated from Chilliwack High School, remarkable for the time.

After her high school learning Agnes completed a hairstylist diploma in Vancouver using that talent for many years.

In October 1936 she married Harold Jones and lived in Quesnel for four years, moving back to Chilliwack in 1940.

Harold was in the army during the war. In 1944 they moved to Cultus Lake residing there until 1997 when Agnes moved to the Birchwood in Chilliwack.

Agnes attended Cultus Lake Memorial Church from the time it was built in 1948. She was a charter member of the Cultus Lake Old Age Pensioners and belonged to the Ruth Rebecca Lodge for 73 years serving many offices.

Agnes was predeceased by her husband Harold in 1979, her sister Myrtle Patterson (Clark) and three brothers, George, Edgar and Wilfred Clark.

She is survived by one brother Lionel Clark of Chilliwack. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, Jean Jordan (Patterson) (Champion, AB), Alan Clark (Vancouver), Melvin Clark (Campbell River), Marliss Perry (Clark) (Quesnel), Fred Clark (Toronto), Ted Clark (Victoria), Diane Dillbough (Clark) (Chilliwack), Janet Lyall (Clark) (Calgary), Bill Clark (Campbell River).

At Agnes’ request memorial tributes may be directed to Chilliwack Community Services or the charity of your choice.

A celebration of her life and reception was held at the Birchwood on November 15, 2006.
