Abraham WARKENTIN

Abraham Peter Warkentin passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 at Chilliwack General Hospital, at age 92 years. He was born November 4, 1910 in Osler, Sask. Abe is survived by his wife Gertrude; three children, Ken (Yvonne), Judy (Don), and Paul (Nancy); grandchildren, Kevin, Kelly, Michael, Grant (Julia), Alan, and Lisa (Doug); great-grandchildren, Elijah and Joseph; and siblings, Helen, Judy, and John. He was predeceased by six siblings, Peter, Dave, Anne, George, Jake, and Margret; and grandchildren, Gregory and Wayne.

Abe lived and farmed on his father’s farm in Silbefeld, Sask. until he was 30 years old. He married Gertrude Siebert in 1941, and they farmed in LaGlace, Alta. for four years. In 1944, they moved to Chilliwack and farmed in Greendale until retirement. Abe’s senior years were filled with family, friends, church, and his favourite hobby of woodworking.

A viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, from 7-9 p.m. at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home in Chilliwack. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at Greendale MB Church in Greendale, Pastor Reg Toews officiating.
