“Ed”

A.J. “Ed” Froese has joined the heavenly choir after having sung his last earthly song, on September 4, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Centre, Chilliwack at the age of 87 years.

Ed was born November 21, 1921 in Waldheim, (Ukraine) Russia. In 1925, his parents J. A. and Agnes Froese and three sons left for the land of freedom. The family settled in Saskatchewan and in 1933 moved to Yarrow, BC. Ed was a meat cutter from the age of 13, until he began a new career as a Sun-Life Agent. He served people in that capacity from 1963 until his retirement in 1994.

Ed loved softball and baseball, spending more than fifty years as a coach and manager. Music was an important part of Ed’s life, beginning with early years on live radio and culminating as a founder and member of the Young Street Vocal Band.

His music lives on with several records and CD’s. The community benefited from his active participation as a member of Chilliwack Alliance Church where he served for fifty three years.

“Time cannot steal treasures we carry in our hearts.”

To our Bradley Centre friends: Thank you for your kindness and care. “The Family”.

Ed is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary, of Yarrow, with whom he celebrated 66 wonderful years; their son, Harold (Claudia); granddaughter, Stacy (Sean) Borchardt and their sons, Drew, Mitch, and Luke, and granddaughter, Leslie (Scott) Loewen and their sons, Evan and Max all of Fresno, California. Sadly he was predeceased by his four brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Rd. Chilliwack, BC; Rev. Leon Throness officiating.
