A Chilliwack RCMP officer suffered minor injures while pursuing a stolen vehicle that police believe was linked to an earlier home invasion.

Both incidents are under investigation. But this is what police are releasing so far.

Early Saturday evening RCMP received multiple calls to the 10000 block of Brentwood Drive after suspects were seen wielding a firearm. The males entered a home and demanded money from the occupant at gunpoint.

Shortly after, police say, a truck was stolen by gunpoint in the 94000 block of Coote Street.

RCMP were able to locate the vehicle, sparking a pursuit. During the chase a police vehicle was struck and the officer inside injured.

One person was taken into custody.

A second person was arrested Monday afternoon and is currently in custody awaiting charges.

“We are still investigating both incidents,” said Cst. Ashley St. Germaine.  “It is believed, at this time, that these incidents are related.” Police also say the incidents were targeted.

The Chilliwack RCMP Serious Crimes Unit has conduct of both investigations.  In an effort to protect the integrity of the investigations, police say they won’t be releasing any further details.  Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611. They can remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
