Burnaby RCMP say an elderly woman in her 80s was sexually assaulted while walking through a city park earlier this year.

The detachment released a sketch on Monday (May 6) of the man suspected of attacking her, in hopes that the public will be able to help identify him.

Burnaby RCMP say the woman was walking in Central Park, a 90-hectare urban green space, around 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 19 when she was approached by a stranger. The man groped the elderly woman and attempted to kiss her.

Police say the suspect is a man around 4o to 45 years old, with short thick black hair and a one- to two-inch-long beard. He has a medium skin tone and a Middle Eastern accent. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a grey nylon jacket, black pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP and quote file number 2024-5930.
