Fraser Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak over at Agassiz Seniors Community, but a new outbreak has been announced at a Chilliwack long-term care facility.

Two staff members at Chilliwack’s Valleyhaven Care Home have tested positive for COVID-19. Valleyhaven Care Home is owned and operated by Kaigo Senior Living Group.

Fraser Health says a rapid response team is at the site, and communication with residents and families is underway. The two staff members are currently in self-isolation at their homes.

Last week, Fraser Health reported an outbreak as well at Sunset Manor, at an assisted living facility in Chilliwack. Two staff members there have also tested positive for COVID-19.

Fraser Health said in a release on Tuesday, Nov. 24, that it is “critically important” for people living in the Fraser Health region to use the COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested as soon as you have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones.

“Please don’t wait,” their release said.

On the same day, 941 new cases of COVID-19 were announced, with 678 cases in the Fraser Health region alone.

You can book an appointment or drop in at a collection centre. People living in the Fraser Health region can find information about test collection centres by visiting Fraser Health’s website.

To book a COVID-19 testing appointment, complete a COVID-19 test booking form.
