A helicopter was used Tuesday to rescue a hiker who injured her ankle on Sumas Mountain Tuesday afternoon.
Teams from Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue (CFVSAR) and Chilliwack Search and Rescue joined forces to get the woman, in her 50s, off the mountain.
Lee Holeczek of CFVSAR said Tuesday afternoon the woman is at the top of the mountain, and crews were deciding the best and safest way to get to her. He said the hiker is fine other than her injured ankle. Chilliwack SAR crews were on their way to help in a helicopter.
Pictures posted by Chilliwack Search and Rescue show a helicopter was used to rescue the woman, who had a possibly fractured ankle.
