Homicide team now investigating after human remains found in torched car in Abbotsford

The investigation into a body found in a burned-out car in Abbotsford on Sunday morning is now being led by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

Both the Abbotsford Police Department and IHIT posted the information to their social media feeds at about 10:45 a.m. Monday (Dec. 6).

Abbotsford patrol officers responded at 2:42 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 5) to a car fire in the 5000 block of Riverside Street.

After firefighters put out the blaze, human remains were found in the vehicle, and the road was blocked off between Hallert and Townshipline roads.

IHIT has not yet released any further information, including whether they know the identity of the victim or the type of vehicle.
