The Harrison Hot Springs lagoon is closed to swimmers for the foreseeable future, thanks to a higher than normal amount of E. coli.

According to a notice put out by the village Thursday (Aug. 22), the lagoon waters were tested on Aug. 19 and higher than the single sample limit for E.coli.

Signs were placed around the lagoon, and swimmers are asked to stay out of the lagoon waters.

According to councillor Michie Vidal, this closure is normal for the lagoon in late summer, especially after a long dry spell.

The village said Fraser Health is testing the water “on a regular basis.” The lagoon will be closed for swimming until the bacteria levels return to normal.
