Every time the Chilliwack food bank is selected online, another fifty cents goes to feed the hungry.
"It's a neat program because we benefit directly," said Don Armstrong, Community Food Bank manager with the Chilliwack Salvation Army.
Locals can log on every day to select the local food bank listed at kraftfoodforfamilies.ca.
There are dozens of Canadian food banks in five different regions right now vying for online supporters, who drag and drop a food icon into the box to make a donation this holiday season to their local food bank.
The Chilliwack food bank had about 947 names on Friday.
"This is a good way for people who like to sit at their computer. They can go on every day and help out by clicking our food bank," said Armstrong.
Make sure to select the 'Pacific' region and 'Chilliwack' food bank when at the site.
The donation goal for Kraft Food for Families 2012 is $125,000. At the end of December the food bank in each region with the most names will receive a bonus donation of $5,000, on top of the $20,000 going to each of the five regions.
A valid name and email is also required when registering to donate at http://www.kraftfoodforfamilies.ca
Those without a computer who still want to help, can do so directly with one of the bell-ringing volunteers in the Salvation Army Christmas kettle program, which rolls out shortly in various locations.
