Fire damages Bernard Ave. home

Chilliwack firefighters quickly contain early morning fire

Chilliwack firefighters quickly extinguished an early morning house fire on Bernard Ave., Saturday morning.

When crews arrived at the home in the 45000 block of Bernard at around 7:45 a.m., they found a large column of smoke venting from the soffits of single storey house.

Firefighters quickly gained access to the interior of the home and suppressed the fire. Fire crews were able to restrict the fire and smoke damage to the interior of the home.

Firefighters from fire halls 1, 4 and 6 responded. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Department.
