Chilly Monday sets new Chilliwack record

Previous record was set in 1898.

Cold enough for you?

It should be. Two chilly records were set on Monday, says Roger Pannett, Environment Canada’s volunteer weather observer for Chilliwack.

Not only did Monday’s high of just 0.8 degrees hit a new icy mark, the overall mean temperature of -2.1 C broke a record set in 1918.

Monday’s maximum temperature was 7.4 degrees below normal, says Pannett, setting a record that hadn’t been broken since 1898.

The cold weather is expected to continue throughout the week, with more snow forecast for the weekend.
