In terms of Monday morning traffic in Chilliwack, the five centimetres of snowfall overnight wasn’t helping.
At one of the busiest intersections, Watson and Promontory Roads, flashing lights required motorists to initiate a four-way stop procedure.
That was leading to serious delays as many drivers were uncertain, others aggressive at the extremely busy spot in Sardis.
For those looking for an alternate way to the highway or the north side in general, Chilliwack River Road is still closed, and there was one-lane alternating traffic on Teskey Way heading north to Prest.
On Highway 1 on the reopened section between Chilliwack and Abbotsford, there was at least one vehicle in a ditch.
These were just a few of the road situations greeting motorists.
Several roads in Chilliwack still have lane closures or remain closed from flood or slide damage, according to the City of Chilliwack’s Dec. 3 update, and most recreational trails in Chilliwack remain closed until staff can complete inspections.

The Vedder Rotary Trail from Vedder Park to the Hopedale West parking lot is now open, except Peach Creek Trail. The Rotary Trail from Hopedale to the Keith Wilson Bridge, trails at the Great Blue Heron Reserve, and the south side of the Rotary Loop remain closed. River levels are forecasted to continue to receding. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the snow and city crews were brining roads last week. Staff worked through the weekend looking winter roads and continue landslide repairs. Please make sure you are prepared for changing weather conditions.
