A fire in a house in Ryder Lake Tuesday left the building with smoke and water damage.

At 12:45pm on May 2, firefighters from Chilliwack fire halls 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 responded to a structure fire in the 5000-block of Ryder Lake Road. When firefighters arrived they found a two-storey residential house with heavy smoke and fire showing from the roof area and second storey of the home.

Supported by a water tender shuttle operation, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the second storey and roof area, with the rest of the home suffering smoke and water damage.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported and all occupants were able to safely exit the home.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by fire officials and it is believed to be accidental in nature.
