Black Press is building for the future, and in doing so is excited to announce that Chilliwack will soon be served by one larger, stronger and even more progressive community newspaper. Both the Chilliwack Progress and Chilliwack Times have been in the community for decades, each bringing their readers and advertisers provincially and nationally award-winning newspapers, both in the form of our print and our online presence.

As a continued leader in providing relevant, timely and invaluable advertising and news coverage to this community, Black Press announces the consolidation of these two publications into one, under the banner of the Chilliwack Progress.

“This is the consolidation of two incredibly strong community newspapers,” said Jean Hincks, publisher of the Chilliwack Times and Chilliwack Progress. “We believe we will better serve the community by combining forces.”

While the consolidation brings with it greater efficiencies, these changes will see affected staff provided new opportunities within the Black Press family.

Times reporter Paul Henderson will be joining the award-winning Progress news team. And advertising consultant Arlene Wood will also be bringing her talents back to The Progress.

As a result of this decision, Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 will be the last publication date for the Chilliwack Times.

“This decision strengthens our resolve to keep bringing you the very best community coverage possible — both in print and digital,” said Hincks, who will continue to lead the team. She thanked the community for its ongoing support and looks forward to continuing to serve Chilliwack.
