Chilliwack home damaged in early morning fire

An early morning fire caused extensive damage to the exterior a home in the 45000 block of Herron Street, Sunday.

No one was home at the time, Chilliwack fire officials say, and there were no firefighter injured.

The blaze broke out at around 4:30 a.m. When firefighters from Halls 1 and 4 arrived they could see smoke coming from the rear of the building and from the roof structure of the single storey house.

The fire was quickly brought under control, but not before extensive damage was done to the underside of the roof structure .

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Chilliwack Fire Dept.
