Above, a woman waits for firefighters to use the Jaws of Life to help remove her from her Jeep Cherokee on Young Road at Brooks Avenue Thursday afternoon.

The woman was travelling northbound on Young Road and was hit on the passenger side by a pickup truck (pictured below) that ran a stop sign causing her vehicle to flip, says a witness. The witness was travelling southbound when the incident happened and narrowly missed being hit by the flipped SUV.

People gathered in a nearby parking lot to watch as emergency personnel helped remove her from her SUV. She was on her feet for a brief moment with help from paramedics and firefighters before being put on a stretcher. The crowd applauded when she was finally removed.

The woman was the only person in the vehicle at the time and she was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck was sitting in the back of an RCMP vehicle following the crash being questioned by police.
