Police seeking witnesses after Chilliwack teen is punched and robbed
Police are asking for help from the public who may have witnessed an incident on South Sumas Road on April 4.
A Chilliwack teen was on his way to work when he was punched before having his iPad ripped off.
He had been heading eastbound, passing Vedder Middle school on South Sumas, when he was approached by a group of five males.
One of them, in a white T-shirt, khaki jeans, Nike high-tops and a silver chain, demanded the tablet device, threatening the victim with violence if he didn't surrender it.
The teen gave up the iPad but sustained minor injuries anyway when he was punched and shoved to the ground, hitting his head.
The other four were described as having dark hair and wearing jeans. One of them wore a Slayer hoodie.
Chilliwack RCMP is requesting the assistance of the public in this matter.
“South Sumas Road is a busy place at this time of day,” said RCMP Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen. “This matter may have been witnessed by passing motorists and pedestrians.
"We need their assistance in solving this investigation.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or to remain anonymous, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
