Purse snatcher steals from senior

A thief who succeeded in a brazen daylight purse-snatching attempt is now being hunted by local RCMP.

Around 3:15 p.m. Saturday afternoon, an 81-year-old woman was walking through the Salish Plaza parking lot, near Save On Foods. She was pushing a shopping cart, with her purse in the basket.

A man came up from behind and grabbed the purse. She tried to hang on but couldn't, and the man took off on a bicycle.

RCMP believe he's in his early 20's, around five-foot-six with a slim build. He was wearing a blue jacket with a grey hoodie sweatshirt underneath.

Anyone with info is asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
