Investigation into death of baby girl continues
Police continue to investigate the death of a 14-month-old toddler in Chilliwack nearly three weeks ago.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the autopsy ordered in the case has been completed, but the results are still pending.
Police were called a Promontory Heights home at around 10 p.m. on Sept. 20 after reports that a 14-month-old girl was in medical distress. She later died in hospital.
Foul play is suspected in the death and one man was arrested. He was later released without charges.
IHIT spokesperson Sgt. Jennifer Pound says the owners of the Mullins Road home initially cordoned off are not suspects.
Said Sgt. Pound: “Without going into extensive detail we can confirm that the victim and suspect are not associated to this residence and the home owners are not, nor were they ever, considered suspects in the baby’s death.”
Further information will be provided as it becomes available, she said.
