Chilliwack woman facing charges following RCMP bust
Two people have been arrested and one of them faces drug-related charges following an RCMP bust last Saturday.
The UFVRD Drug Section had a search warrant in hand as they entered an apartment unit in the 46,000 block of Princess Avenue.
They were looking for evidence related to the trafficking of cocaine, and found plenty.
Police seized quantities of crack cocaine and marijuana. They found evidence that cocaine was being cooked in the unit, and they also found evidence related to the sale of drugs.
A 48-year-old Chilliwack woman and 51-year-old man were arrested.
Charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking have been recommended to Crown Council for the woman, who will appear in court Dec. 17.
City of Chilliwack By-Law Enforcement has since deemed the unit unsafe and removed the occupancy permit. This is the second time in a month that this apartment complex has been the focus of an RCMP search. Police went into a different unit in late August on a drug-related matter.
“Our Crime Reduction Unit continues to focus both on our hotspot crime areas and drugs,” said Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen. “We continue to have success employing intelligence lead and crime analysis strategies.”
